Two weeks ago the city of Springfield actually approved the permit for us to hold the March For Science event, but we just now received the signed copy in our inbox. We knew the permit had been approved back then, but didn’t want to make the announcement until we actually had it in our hot little hands. Due to vacations and department trainings, it took them a while to get it out, but it’s here and we’re thrilled.
The application process was much easier than we had thought it would be and the folks running this department were very easy to work with. The difficulty lied with meeting the requirements like the insurance and finding the right officers in the Sheriff’s Dept to get those streets closed for us.
The event has grown in size and scope since the event was first applied for, but luckily the permit is fairly flexible and will still accommodate the additional plans that have unfolded between now and then.
